Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Must be a nursing graduate who has registered for CRNA as a Registered Nurse/Graduate Nurse within the last three (3) months. To ensure your skills and qualifications can be comprehensively considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. Since the Graduate Nurses participating in this pilot program will be matched up to assigned mentors (working 12-hour shifts) within Sturgeon Community Hospitals Emergency Department to complete their residency, the successful candidate must have flexibility to work a rotation which aligns to their assigned mentor. Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. Basic computer skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good command of the English language. Ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision. Physical capability of performing all aspects of the role (bending, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, and mobilization of bariatric patients).
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of final nurse practicum in an Emergency Department preferred. Previous clinical or work experience in a medicine setting is ideal. Familiarity with Connect Care, Netcare and PYXIS.
