Your Opportunity:

Assisted Living Alberta is committed to enhancing community care, supporting people to stay healthy and independent in the community. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care offers services in five areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services, and Palliative Care. We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our Community Aids for Independent Living team. You will use your knowledge of the Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) program to assess client eligibility for medical supplies and equipment, ensuring appropriate care through tele-triage. Based on client needs, you will determine if AADL, home care, or supportive living is most suitable. This role involves comprehensive nursing services, including tele-triage, home visits, needs assessment, referral coordination, and advocacy. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and knowledge of AADL eligibility are essential, along with the ability to teach and counsel patients and families.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current AADL Authorizer status is required. Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills are necessary as well as experience tele triaging complex clients and situations. Experience with Connect Care. Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proven critical thinking and decision-making skills. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet. Strong knowledge of Medical – Surgical benefits is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 1-2 years of recent community nursing (i.e. Home Living, Supportive Living) experience is preferred. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Two years current nursing practice with one year in a Continuing Care based setting. Experience with advanced telecommunications systems would be a benefit. Experience with complex clients including acute, chronic and end of life conditions.
