Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years current (within one year) clinical Nephrology experience required; includes experience in either General Nephrology, Chronic Kidney Disease clinic, Diabetic Nephropathy, Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis. Previous experience as a nurse case manager. Experience in the presentation of formal patient education. Demonstrated patient assessment skills. Must be able to type for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and assist with transfer of patients. Must be able to push patients in a bariatric wheelchair. Must be able to work independently with complex case management. Training for the CKD RN position will take place in Edmonton for a period of at least 4-6 weeks depending on candidate's experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

BScN. Previous experience in the CKD clinic or DNPC. Previous experience in chronic disease management. Previous experience with the home dialysis programs. Experience with both Connect Care and the Nephrology Information System (NIS).
