Your Opportunity:

Viking Community Health Centre is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Home Care Team, serving Viking and surrounding communities. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support individuals and families in achieving their health goals while remaining safely and comfortably in their homes. Reporting to the Home Care Manager, the RN practices within Assisted Living Alberta's strategic direction and the Continuing Care Case Management Competency Framework. Using a person-centered approach, the RN works collaboratively with clients and families to identify needs, build on strengths, establish goals, and coordinate services across the continuum of care. As a key member of the interdisciplinary team, the RN is responsible for comprehensive client assessments, care planning, service coordination, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of outcomes. The RN supports clients in accessing appropriate community resources while promoting health, independence, and quality of life. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills. Working closely with clients, families, physicians, and community partners, the RN provides holistic, client and family-centered care and offers clinical guidance and support to Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and resourceful, with experience in community nursing, case management, chronic disease management, wound care, palliative care, and health promotion. This position is based out of Viking Home Care, located approximately 136 km southeast of Edmonton, Alberta.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of nursing experience, including care of the geriatric population, and at least two years of community nursing experience in Home Care or supportive living environments (Type A or B facilities). A current BCLS-HCP certification through the Heart and Stroke Foundation is required. Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License with the ability to travel and work safely in all weather conditions while transporting supplies and equipment. This role requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, demonstrating strong assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, conflict resolution, time management, and prioritization skills. The successful candidate must be able to manage competing priorities, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. Physical requirements include the ability to provide hands-on patient care, including transfers and mobility assistance, and to regularly walk, bend, lift, stand, drive for extended periods, and carry equipment weighing 10-15 kg. Compliance with all CCHSS standards, AHS mandatory education requirements, and ongoing professional development obligations is required. References verifying qualifications, experience, and competencies must be provided.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Applications, interRAI Tools, Connect Care and ePeople.
