The Southern Alberta Adult Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Program (SAAHEPNP) Registered Nurse (RN) works with adults in Southern Alberta who have chronic medical conditions that require them to be tube fed or intravenously fed. The position is based at the office and clinic at Foothills Medical Centre. The candidate needs to be comfortable with managing an extensive patient load through in person and virtual contact and in collaboration with care providers in the community. Complete in-depth assessments for determination of eligibility; working with a multidisciplinary team to determine the best therapy. This position is essential to delivering and adapting teaching for patients and assessing their ability to be successful with either Parenteral (PN) or Enteral Nutrition (EN) at home. The nurse provides service to patients and their families/caregivers throughout their home therapy. Actively participates in follow-up and consultation with the patient and their families, problem solving feeding device concerns, facilitating tube exchanges, and troubleshooting central line complications. Guides patients and families in ongoing self-care that requires technical and clinical expertise. Systematically documents all aspects of care in a concise and timely manner. Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, policies, and guidelines as they affect patients on EN and PN. Collaborates with other professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate actions related to care of EN and PN with respect to efficiency, effectiveness, appropriateness, and safety. This position requires regular lifting, is physically demanding, includes on-call duties and travel to other AHS facilities usually within Calgary and within the scheduled hours. This position involves working in the settings of inpatient acute care, ambulatory clinic visits, and office work.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
