Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must be Connect Care trained. A minimum of 3 years recent Gastroenterology outpatient/in patient nursing experience. Demonstrated excellent assessment, documentation, clinical, organizational, and patient care skills. Proficient in medication administration calculations. A thorough understanding and working knowledge of the importance of biological and biosimilar medication management is vital. Strong interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills are needed. Ability to communicate findings in a clear, concise, and accurate manner, both written and verbally. Demonstrated ability to deal with stressful situations and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Able to prioritize complex patient care needs and demands, prioritize workload assignments and cope with frequent interruptions. Demonstrate initiative, reliability, flexibility, and critical thinking. Able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficits occur. Able to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment. Advanced computer skills are required. Able to push, pull, lift, and move office equipment and supplies as well as walk between different departments. This position includes repetitive tasks such as keyboarding, so the successful incumbent must be able to sit for prolonged times.
