Your Opportunity:

This position is for an inpatient staff nurse primary to Unit 1. Unit 1 is a 21 bed inpatient unit that primarily treats patients with hematological/immunological disorders, cancers and provides care for those patients that require stem cell, cord blood or bone marrow transplants. This is a highly acute and fast paced unit with responsibilities that include (but are not limited to) the safe administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy agents, frequent accessing and care of CVC’s as well as frequent administration of blood products/components. Unit 1 staff nurses also provide teaching and support to patients and families within the program regarding chemotherapeutic agents, diagnoses and treatment protocols. Other patient populations include non-infectious surgical, medical and mental health patients. A close working relationship is required between all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team, therefore strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are an asset. Given our patient population this position requires excellent physical assessment skills, critical thinking, prioritization, time management and patient and family advocacy. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
