Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Red Deer Regional Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to support their dynamic surgical portfolio. The PACU is a critical care area providing specialized care for patients following anesthesia and surgical procedures. The PACU nurse has strong assessment and organizational skills; the ability to recognize subtle changes in patient condition and provide the needed interventions in a timely manner. PACU nurses function autonomously and need strong communication skills to ensure critical information is conveyed to all stakeholders. The PACU Nurse uses their technical skills and clinical judgement in the delivery of professional nursing care. Ability to stand for long periods at patient’s bedside is required. Ability to move/reposition unresponsive patients in order to protect airways is required. Participates in collaborative practice with members of the multidisciplinary team. On call is required.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Current PACU experience (within the last 6 months) and/or completion of a PACU certificate program. Or a minimum of 2 years current PACU/Critical Care/ICU/Surgical experience is required (current refers to experience in the last 3 years).
Preferred Qualifications:ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS are an asset. PPEP Course preferred. Recent Critical Care experience preferred (within the last 5 years).
