Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists to develop as a Registered Nurse (RN) and work to your full scope of practice within a collaborative team on 5East at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. 5 East is a 36 inpatient bed unit providing care for medical and surgical patients. You will be responsible for caring for medical inpatients (usually under the care of a Hospitalist) and providing excellent patient and family centered care supporting the acute needs of our patients. As a RN on 5East, Medical/Surgical Unit, you will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team consisting of Nurses, Physicians, Allied Health professionals and support workers, fostering a unit culture that values and respects individual team members and their expertise. As the successful candidate you will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team; decision making, problem solving, and critical thinking skills using sound clinical reasoning; patient advocacy and patient education skills; time management and prioritization skills; conflict resolution skills and promotion of a positive teamwork environment while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:5 years experience in an acute care setting practicing as an RN.
