Your Opportunity:

As a Registered Nurse within the Outpatient Clinics, you will work as an integral part of the health care team to collaborate in the care of the pediatric patient (newborn to age 18) and their families. Your practice will envelop the principals of family centered care and will include working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. You will follow best practice guidelines to provide specialized ambulatory care of this population and demonstrate sound nursing judgement and knowledge. You will utilize your critical thinking skills to provide telephone triage and assessment to pediatric patients and their families and triage referrals as appropriate. This ambulatory Care Registered Nurse position will support the Respiratory Specialty Outpatient Clinics at ACH, however there may be a requirement to support other ACH outpatient clinics as required. Your demonstrated initiative, time management, accountability, conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills; your ability to work independently under time constraints and within a fast-paced changing environment; ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of the children and families within our care. Having an attitude of respect and dignity for all persons, along with demonstrating a caring and compassionate manner are all required in this role.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in direct patient care. 2 years' experience as Registered Nurse in a direct Pediatric Care Setting within last 5 years. Telephone assessment and triage and /or emergency triage experience. 2 years' experience in ambulatory care or community care nursing withing the last 5 years. Nursing experience in Respiratory care.

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years' experience in an ambulatory clinic. Experience working in a multidisciplinary clinic. Education and/or training in the areas of Pulmonary medicine and Asthma. Certified Asthma Education. Experience using Connect Care and WFM.
