An exciting opportunity exists to provide healthcare in a rural community as a Registered Nurse in Milk River, Alberta. The Town of Milk River (population about 825) is located about 300 kilometers southeast of Calgary and about an hour southeast of Lethbridge. It is the only place you can reach the US border in 10 minutes’ drive! Visit the spectacular Waterton National Park in just over an hour’s drive, and ancient Indigenous stone writings only a half hour away! Along with its extremely low land prices, friendly small-town living, and its close proximity to both Lethbridge and the Canada/United States Border, and the warm Southern Alberta chinooks, Milk River is an attractive place to call home. Serving the farming and ranching community, the Milk River Health Centre provides a range of health care services to including emergency, long term care, lab & diagnostic imaging, along with other allied health programs.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Current certification for IV, defibrillation, and BGM. Demonstrates ability to work in a highly acute, very busy multi-disciplinary setting. Minimum one-year Emergency Room experience preferred. Must demonstrate organization, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills. The successful applicant will assume unit leadership and charge responsibilities consistent with their level of experience. Evidence of integrity, initiative and sound judgment. Demonstrate commitment to professional development. Ability to function effectively in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal and team communication skills. Demonstrate accountability for own practice. Must be committed to promoting a positive work environment. Must possess strong communication/interpersonal skills. Knowledge and skills relating to complex discharge planning. Holds Current CRNA License for 1 year.
