Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree Nursing. Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certification in Perioperative Nursing preferred or willing to obtain. Perioperative Certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution. Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Certificate of completion from an accredited postsecondary institution in Canada or United States of America preferred or willing to obtain. Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) designation preferred based on the criteria listed below: CRNFA certification validates the specialized knowledge, skills, and experience of an individual RN practicing at a proficient or expert level as an RNFA. Requires a minimum of 2,000 hours of experience performing in the RNFA role before applying for certification. Completion of RN prescribing modules preferred or willingness to attain prescribing competency as described in CRNA scope of practice. Registered Nursing Professional (RN). Current and maintained registration with College of Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), with no restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) membership preferred or willingness to obtain. RNFA Network of Canada (RNFANC) membership (a subspecialty in ORNAC). preferred or willingness to obtain. Operating Room Nursing Association of Alberta (ORNAA) preferred or willingness to obtain. Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) preferred or willingness to obtain.
