Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Registered Nurse (RN) reports to the clinic manager of Medicine Clinics. The RN works in a fast-paced clinic, supporting Rheumatology and Infectious Diseases Clinics. The RN does the initial assessment and administration of general treatment to the patient under the direction of the physician. As an RN in an Ambulatory setting, you are an important part of an interdisciplinary team that ensures appropriate patient care in an outpatient setting. The RN plays a key role in the support of an integrated and holistic approach to the patient's healthcare and health promotion. The RN acts as the liaison between the interdisciplinary team and other providers to support the patient. Duties include immunization, patient teaching and other clinic procedures. A medium level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of computer/ keyboard and telephone work is required. Sufficient mobility to: stand for long periods, work in noisy environment, bend, stoop, and move around rapidly throughout the shift is required. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15kg regularly and participate in hands on care of patients (i.e. transfers, bariatric clients, bending, twisting, walking distances). Ability to work alone in the Medicine clinics is required.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous experience in Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases. Connect Care, Scheduling and Charting. Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Current CBLS-HCP required with the physical ability to perform CPR on adult patients. Immunization certification. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with patient teaching. Experience assisting physician during minor procedures, including PAP smears. Ambulatory Clinic experience. Fibroscan Certification. PICC Line experience.
