Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Day/Night Clinics integrates knowledge, skills and abilities to ensure ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for pediatric patients with complex medical needs. The clinic nurse is the leader of the interdisciplinary care team. The nurse facilitates neuromotor/neurodevelopmental surveillance and facilitates communication between providers and families requiring support and services. Responsibilities include coordination of care, navigation of the health care system, and assessment of children’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical development. Supporting ongoing program development and optimization, identifying and supporting quality improvement initiatives both within the program and at the site level. The incumbent should expect to spend considerable amounts of time on the phone in addition to attending appointments and providing direct Registered Nurse support during clinic appointments. Coordinating clinical involvement and support from the interdisciplinary team. Assessing family needs and providing phone and face-to-face support, coaching and anticipatory guidance to families. Liaising with rehabilitation and community services within Edmonton and across the province to ensure equitable access to care and services and liaising with community-based pediatricians or family physicians. Triaging incoming referrals and scheduling appointments as well as making necessary referrals under the guidance of a physician.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of Registered Nurse experience. Experience in pediatric rehabilitation. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills when working with complex families and patients. Demonstrate the ability to work in a family-centred care environment. Working knowledge of contributing factors and concerns/priorities of children with chronic conditions and developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed, highly motivated Registered Nurse who possesses strong communication and leadership skills. Able to work in a clinic with multiple demands.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Previous experience with electronic medical records: Connect Care. Knowledge and experience in child development and community resources are assets. Preference will be given to Registered Nurse who have demonstrated leadership ability and training.
