Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Unit Manager, Women’s Health, Ambulatory Care, Foothills Medical Centre, the Pelvic Floor RN provides excellent, evidence-based nursing care, education, assessment, conservative management, and support to women experiencing pelvic floor issues including fecal/urinary incontinence and/or pelvic organ prolapse. The RN is fully competent and able to obtain a history, perform a comprehensive physical assessment of the female patient and can meet the physical demands of this position. This role requires advanced nursing knowledge related to pelvic floor health, urology, gynecology, and continence care. Care and support of significant others within the context of the patient experience is an integral part of this role. Excellent communication skills are required with demonstrated ability to interact with numerous members of the health care team and partners of the Pelvic Floor Program. The successful candidate will possess excellent teaching ability with a sensitive approach to intimate health matters.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience (within the last 2 years) in Women’s Health Outpatient Clinics or relevant acute care experience in Gynecology or Women’s Health. Must be willing to undertake RN Prescribing Certification course in support of potential program expansion. Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a healthcare team environment. Demonstrated effective time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficient with Connect Care and Netcare. Ability to adhere to policies and procedures and legislated requirements regarding confidentiality. Up to date ROL Modules. Demonstrated ability to manage wellness at work. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks: assisting patients with limited mobility to transfer to and from exam table (lift greater than 50 pounds), walking, standing and/or sitting for extended periods, squatting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. National Continence Advisor certification. Demonstrated advanced clinical interview, assessment, and education skills with a focus in women’s health. Licensed RN Prescriber.
