Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Two to five years recent nursing experience in an acute care or community setting. Recent practice with chronic disease management. Recent nursing experience in a general medical ambulatory clinic. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational, and patient care skills. Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required. Highly skilled in venipuncture is required. Must be able to identify own learning needs and seek guidance in professional practice where knowledge deficit occurs. Extensive experience in the inner-city community of Edmonton, specifically with marginalized communities is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience working with HIV infected affected individuals in an outpatient clinic setting is preferred. Experience in obstetrical and pediatric care preferred. Knowledge of and established relationship with community agencies in inner-city Edmonton is highly desirable. Experience with Netcare, Outlook, e-People, Microsoft Office products. Previous experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) - Connect Care. Cervical PAP trained. STI testing and treatment experience.
