Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to communicate effectively and adapt communication style to meet the needs of patients/clients and to communicate with physicians in a concise and accurate manner. Reliable and dependable. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient/client change in status. Proven ability to anticipate and respond to critical situations. Work effectively in a team environment. Balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Demonstrated ability to assess own educational needs regarding knowledge and skill development and to participate in the appropriate educational opportunities. Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication. Demonstrated ability in the use of principles of time management and effective problem solving. Demonstrated skills in conflict management. Proven technical and clinical skill in scrub and circulating roles. Ability to interpret 3 lead ECG. Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve the immediate complications of anesthesia. Flexibility to function in multiple perioperative situations. Proven ability to mentor/precept new staff members.
Preferred Qualifications:3 years recent surgical suite (OR) experience. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Certification of perioperative course. Teaching and mentoring skills desired. Basic computer skills including connect care an asset.
