Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:As a bona fide occupational requirement and under Section 11 of the Alberta Human Rights Act, only Indigenous applicants will be considered. A high degree of cultural competence and embedded experience as it relates to working with Indigenous people (First Nations, Métis and Inuit). Minimum of 5 years acute care or community-based case management, health promotion, or public health setting. Knowledge of trauma informed care, and an understanding of the intergenerational trauma that impact Indigenous Peoples in Alberta. Graduate of recognized school of nursing; and member in good standing of the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Baccalaureate degree. Minimum of 5 years of experience providing significant direct health care services to Indigenous families/communities; or being someone who has lived at minimum 5 consecutive years as a participant member within an Indigenous community. Case management coordination i.e. discharge planning, teaching medical complex care scenarios to patient and families.
Preferred Qualifications:We encourage Indigenous candidates to self- identify. Charge nurse or leadership equivalent experience. Pediatric health care experience (0-17 years). Home care experience preferred with knowledge of transitional planning. Indigenous heritage an asset. Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset (preferably Cree or Dene). Knowledge of local Indigenous history and experience in local Indigenous culture.
