Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience dealing with the medical complications that could arise with eating disorders and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies. Must have skills in psychiatric, and medical assessment and crisis intervention. Using Collaborative Problem Solving, Attachment needs, and Trauma Informed approach, the RN/RPN/LPN supports adults with eating disorders in understanding mental health, developing strategies to manage their mental illness, group therapy and meal support therapy. The RN/RPN/LPN works as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team and further engages in group facilitation and individual support. Mental health experience in acute care, inpatient psychiatry and/or eating disorder experience required. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position and provide hands on care to patients in unpredictable, urgent situations.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members. Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team. NVCI training. Certification in the Core Brain Story (available through the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative) is preferred.
