Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and skill with computer programs (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, Alberta Netcare, and Connect Care). Perform effectively in an environment with interruptions and/or distractions, with frequent workload changes and competing demands within established time frames. Proven leadership and organizational skills in acute care setting. Must be able to work in a high-stress environment with multiple challenges. Strong process analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Experience in collaborating with physicians, other healthcare professionals and patients. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively liaise with various healthcare professionals by providing clear, concise, accurate and timely information. Work independently and demonstrate excellent time management skills, demonstrate conflict management, accurately collect, and enter information in a timely manner. Manage change and create innovative solutions to complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to function effectively in a dynamic setting. Minimum of 3 years related experience with a variety of surgical service specialties and/or of five years acute care nursing experience in an operating/procedural or surgical unit.

Preferred Qualifications:

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Experience with RightFax and Genesys. Experience and understanding of the referral process with Urology preferred, Orthopedics, General Surgery, OMFS, Plastics, Neurosurgery beneficial. Maintenance and understanding of statistical information associated with surgical scheduling.
