Rainbow Lake is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide both home care and public health services to the area. This unique role will be part of a small team providing care where it is needed. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating client care, education, chronic disease management, health assessments, wound care, and ADL support. You will collaborate with individuals, caregivers, and community resources to support healthy living and community connectedness. Located on the traditional lands of Treaty 8 and the beautiful lands of the Metis, Rainbow Lake is approximately 876 KM northwest of Edmonton and offers a stunning wilderness in your backyard. The town sits on the edge of its namesake, a slightly curved body of water shaped like a rainbow. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over. Comfort with rural driving in all seasons will be needed. Duties include comprehensive assessment, case management, and intervention. Physical demands may involve lifting, climbing stairs, outdoor walking, and visiting clients in less-than-ideal conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:Having two years of experience in the last five years in Home Care will be beneficial. Also preferred is wound care and Connect Care experience.
