Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Recent (within the last two years) Pediatric Ambulatory experience in Pediatric Diabetes required. Extensive patient education and experience supporting patients and families by telephone/email/My Chart required. Excellent assessment, interpersonal, communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills needed. Demonstrated ability to apply teaching and learning theory to children and their families required. Connect Care and strong computer/technology skills required. Must be able to pass Stollery Medication Administration exam, completed at the time of interview with 90% or more. PEARs required. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Certified Diabetes Educator status preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who have recent knowledge and experience working with children who have diabetes in both acute and ambulatory settings. Three years’ experience in Pediatric acute care inpatients preferred. Experience with or knowledge of insulin pumps preferred. PALS preferred.
