Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have at least 1 year experience within a Healthy School program, and 2 years of experience in the last 5 years within a public health setting, including direct work in early childhood (Healthy Young Families) and school health programs (e.g., school-based immunization, health promotion, or adolescent health support). Fully trained within Connect Care with the required Public Health Nurse role and training. Including recent experience (within the past two years) working with an EMR (e.g., eClinician, Connect Care) required. Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including: Lifting, carrying, and transporting supplies up to [25 lbs], Walking between sites, climbing stairs, and prolonged periods of standing/sitting, Setting up and dismantling mobile immunization/clinic stations. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required. Experience in interdisciplinary teamwork required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills required. Working knowledge of computer applications, including word processing, email, internet access, and data entry required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree and/or master’s in nursing preferred. Skills & experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Knowledge, understanding & demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion. CNA Certification in Community Health Nursing and/or IBLC certification.
