Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience within the last 3 years in an Oncology Setting. Experience with the following skills: case management of patients, assisting with minor procedures, wound management, and administration of medications/injections. Proficiency with assessing medication side effects and patient teaching for treatment. Progressive experience in roles and responsibilities. Familiarity with the principles and strategies for advancing the practice of Patient and Family Centered Care throughout the organization. Ability to walk long distances over the course of a shift, assist with patient transfers and mobility, requiring physical exertion. Pushing, pulling, bending and reaching is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice will be considered. Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience within the last 3 years in an Ambulatory Oncology setting preferred (Clinics, Radiation Therapy, and Treatment). Leadership, communication, project management, AIW and change management courses or certification. Membership in ONIGA/CANO. Oncology designation (CON(C)) or deSouza Cancer Care Basics course.
