Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3 year full time equivalent acute nursing experience within the last 5 years. 1 year full time equivalent oncology nursing experience within the last 5 years. Cumulative Oncology experience in an acute care setting within the last 5 years may be considered. Experience as a Registered Nurse: intravenous, hydrations, blood transfusions, PICC, port care and administration of medications. Able to work in a fast paced and unpredictable environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. Able to meet the physical demands of the job, such as overhead reaching. Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team. Be self-directed and exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Exhibit strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Exhibit leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrate ability to manage change and adapt to changing workflows, as we prepare to move to a new area. Demonstrate a commitment to and participation in professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Experience working in an outpatient Oncology setting. Experience giving IV chemotherapy. Central venous catheter certification. Completion of an Oncology specialty course (i.e. de Souza, ONDEC). Oncology designation CON(c). Membership in Oncology associations/groups (i.e. CANO). Knowledge and experience with the following programs: Connect Care and Netcare.
