Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Comfortable to drive-in all-weather conditions. Lift/carry supplies, max of 30 lbs. Raise arms to shoulder height in a repetitive movement and use fine motor hand coordination required for immunization. Bend, twist, kneel and respond safely/quickly to a variety of emergency situations. Independently perform the skills of a certified BLS provider. Sit/stand, min of 30 minutes. Work at outreach sites that have no consistent ergonomic setup. At least 1 year experience working as a Registered Nurse in any of the following areas; Prenatal, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Pediatrics, Immunization within the last 3 years. At least 1-year work experience in Public Health - Well Child Clinic within the last 3 years. Effective time management. Communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Demonstrate culturally competent care. Conduct contemporaneous electronic documentation at the point of care. Self-directed and able to exercise critical thinking and independent nursing judgment in fast paced and stressful environment. Make critical decisions and respond safely and quickly to situations/settings (e.g., anaphylaxis, frequent faints, post-partum depression screening, emergency response).
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in a community setting will be considered. Current School Health Nursing experience within the last 3 years. Current CNA Certification in Community Health Nursing. Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. Experience working in Connect Care Clinical Information System.
