Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:1 year working with patients with substance use disorders, and/or homelessness, and/or mental illness. Demonstrated knowledge of addiction nursing including treatment modalities and medications. Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction and community resources that support people who use substances. Demonstrated strong assessment and intervention skills. Demonstrated ability to establish professional, safe, inclusive and respectful relationships. Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize competing demands. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated effective collaboration within a team environment. Understanding and application of information and communication technologies, such as Connect Care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience with an addiction consult service similar to the Network. Recent experience completing assessment and follow-up nursing care to patients managing a substance use disorder. Acute care experience within the last year, preferably emergency department environment. Additional trainings or certifications in addiction medicine considered an asset. Current NVCI, BCLS-HCP, and Connect Care Training.
