Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Heart and Stroke BLS Certification (active). Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations is necessary. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills within a team setting. Maintains a standard of high-quality care, self-directed and motivated. Demonstrates a caring attitude towards patients and families, ability to relate to clients in a caring manner with respect and dignity. Ability to work collaboratively with team members is essential. Physical ability to assist with lifting, turning, and transferring adult patients essential. Ability to utilize safe transferring and lifting equipment (It’s Your Move) is necessary. Effective verbal and written communication required. Must be able to handle the physical demands of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in the continuing care setting is preferred, other experience may qualify such as experience working with seniors and the cognitively impaired patients. Charge Nurse experience considered an asset. Completion of Supportive Pathways certification. Palliative care training. It’s Your Move certification. Phlebotomy certification. Immunization certification.
