Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years recent adult acute medical and/or surgical nursing experience is required. A strong understanding of COACT principles. Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations. Strong clinical and assessment skills necessary (Patient assessment, IV certified, CVC/PICC certified, Foley insertion, and Glucometer certified etc.). Must have excellent interpersonal communication, effective time management and organizational skills required to work with the multidisciplinary team. Must be able to work in a fast-paced department that is variable, unpredictable, and has competing priorities. Strong conflict resolution skills are necessary. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all members of the healthcare team and with patients and family members. Ability to lift and turn patients safely utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment (IYM).
Preferred Qualifications:Recent Charge Nurse experience and active participation in discharge planning preferred.
