Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Five years of recent clinical nursing experience in an acute care surgical setting. Minimum of 3 years current critical care or recovery room experience. Experience and expertise with surgical patients receiving multimodal analgesia including but not limited to PCA, Epidural, and Regional Nerve Blocks. Must be self-directed with the capacity to adapt and set priorities. The ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan and deliver pain management is essential. Demonstration and experience with teaching and mentoring staff. Strong communication and critical thinking skills. Basic computer skills: ability to work within Connect Care, Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice will be considered. Experience related to collecting data and supporting research would be beneficial. ACLS training is preferred.
