Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Experience with Connect Care required. Recent (within last 1-2 years) IV infusion clinic experience, with strong skill base with IV insertions, monitoring infusions, blood product transfusions, medication administration, venipuncture samples, and anaphylaxis protocols is required. Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication, and organizational skills and a strong Family Centered Care philosophy is required. Must be adaptable to a rapidly changing environment and have strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work in a fast paced, physically challenging environment that includes constant standing, walking, lifting and bending. Able to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions. Employee is required to work on call hours and may be redeployed to other Stollery areas as required. Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam at the time of interview with 90% or more.
Preferred Qualifications:PALS and/or PEARS is preferred. 3-4 years recent acute care pediatric in-patient/or ER experience with excellent pediatric assessment skills is preferred. Charge experience/leadership skills considered an asset.
