Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Current clinical experience (within the last 12 months) as a Registered Nurse in the operating room. Minimum 3 years within the past 5 recent intra-operative nursing experience, including circulating and scrub roles. Ability to work shift work, stand scrubbed for many hours, and to meet the physical demands of the position including patient transfers, physically holding a limb for surgical prep, and caring for patients with unpredictable behavior as they awaken from anesthesia. Ability to wear a lead apron protection for an extended period. Successful completion of a Perioperative Nursing course or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Perioperative training or equivalent. Emergency nursing training or equivalent. One or more of the following certifications: Advanced Critical Care Nursing certification (ACCN), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Canadian Triage & Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification or equivalent experience within the last 3 years. Charge Nurse experience.
