Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:3 – 5 years of community, outreach mental health nursing experience. Working knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act; specifically, CTO legislation. Knowledge of psychotropic medications including side-effects. Experience and comfort providing injections within the community. Knowledge of psychotic disorders. Experience providing assistance in the areas of: mental status monitoring; medication access and monitoring; basic needs (housing, clothing, food); finding a family doctor and follow up with appointments; transportation training; life skills development (e.g. budgeting); developing social and recreational supports; accessing financial supports (e.g. Alberta Works, AISH); and ensuring a smooth transition to mental health follow up. NVCI training.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with case management of CTO clients.
