Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year’s surgical nursing experiences within the last 2 years is required. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Basic Knowledge of computers and software applications (ie Microsoft Office, Connect Care/ EPIC). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Actively integrates patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practices.
Preferred Qualifications:Current IV, CVC, epidural, and PCA certifications. Experience with complex wound care and negative pressure wounds within the last year. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Strong patient teaching skills, ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision making, nursing judgement, and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships.
