Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to clients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of clients and their families. The assignments of the Registered Nurse in Home Care could include discharge planning, intake, supportive living case management, as well as case management of community clients in a variety of settings. You may be required to cover other assignments as workload dictates under the home care program as a Case Manager and will be scheduled to work on call as part of your rotation. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to client care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality client and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks and may involve physical exertion not limited to climbing stairs, walking outside, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and carrying which may involve visits to client homes that are not ideal. Valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years Home Care experience within the last 5 years of nursing preferred, although, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Current use of Meditech, Service Authorizations, RAI-HC, Netcare, and AADLs. Experience with HPT, wound care, client teaching, palliative support. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and ability to work in a collaborative team demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
