Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Applicants for this position must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Minimum education is a diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing with a degree preferred. Ability to work well in a team and seek consultation, when necessary, must be demonstrated. Advanced knowledge and skill in the areas of evidence-based assessment and treatment of mental illness is required. Critical thinking skills, working knowledge on the management of concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidities, and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required. Advanced knowledge and skill in the areas of evidence-based assessment and treatment of mental illness is required. Effective interviewing, assessment, psychotherapy, case management and crisis intervention skills are necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 3-5 years mental health experience is required, preferably in a community or crisis/emergency setting with a year of ACT like experience preferred. Strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of ACT, concurrent disorders, and mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset.
