Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Trained in Low Dose Ketamine Infusions. 2 year acute care medical/surgical nursing experience within the last 5 years. PCA/PCEA Certification. TNA/TPN Certification. Central Line Certification. Chest Tube care and maintenance knowledge. Recent charge experience on an acute inpatient unit. Previous experience preceptoring, orientating, and/or mentoring new staff, and/or students. Experience in Inpatient Surgery or Medicine. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills. Knowledge and use of Clinibase, SCM, and AHS email. Effective patient teaching experience (both written and verbal). Strong critical thinking skills demonstrated. Proficiency in clinical assessment skills.
Preferred Qualifications:High functioning time management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Effective interpersonal and communication skills through verbal, and written means in a professional and mature manner. Initiative, flexibility, and independence of nursing practice in a team environment. Ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care.
