Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Acute care experience within the past 2 years. (students with preceptorship or practicum experience in acute care will be considered equivalent). Must be able to perform repetitive physical duties that include walking long distances, pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching, assisting with patient transfers and other duties related to patient care. Palliative care experience (specific to dealing with change management and emotions of grief). Please note that although this role is based out of the Arthur Child Cancer Centre (AC), orientation and training may commence at Foothills Medical Centre OR Tom Baker Cancer Centre prior to the opening of AC.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in pain management including advanced competencies such as PCA’s and Epidurals. Charge training and experience. Experience working with the elements of CoACT and collaborative care. Palliative certification and/or experience. Experience with caring for patients undergoing radioactive iodine treatment. Oncology experience within the last 5 years. Experience with Central Venous Catheter. Experience in medical inpatient care within the past 2 years. Experience with Connect Care.
