Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of three (3) years -related experience with a variety of surgical service specialties is required. 1 year current OR Booking experience is required. Experience with surgical services scheduling practices should include GS, Orthopedics, Thoracic, Urology, Plastics, Bariatrics, OMFS, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Arthroplasty, Neurosurgery, Spine, Gynecology and Obstetrics. Knowledge and skill with computer programs are required (Connect Care OR Scheduler, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams including File maintenance). Excellent planning, organizational and time-management skills are necessary. Maintenance and understanding of statistical information associated with OR scheduling. Proven communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals and provide clear, concise, accurate and timely information. Ability to provide leadership for administrative team and facilitate communication between Surgeons, MOA’s, AHN’s and OR management. Possess strong process analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently, as well as participate as a member of a team to reach common goals. Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred.
