The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in beautiful Fort McMurray has an open role for an Advanced Care Paramedic to support all acute inpatient care throughout the facility. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team you will support patients as you practice patient and family centered care. You will advocate for patients and uphold high standards of evidence-based practice. Advanced Care Paramedics must maintain clinical competencies within their scope of practice as determined by A.H.S. Must be able to aid in patient transfers, support the lifting and movement of patients as needed. Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills and excels in fast-paced, dynamic environments by efficiently pivoting between patients, tasks, and the use of various computer software and technologies. Success in this role is driven by a combination of critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, independence, and a strong commitment to ongoing professional development. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Paramedic, you will assess emergency scenes and patients and may transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation. You will treat patients by administering medications, advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts and electrical therapy. You may also lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as transfer vans, are properly stocked and equipped.

Completion of an accredited Advanced Care Paramedic program. Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits. Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date.
Additional Required Qualifications:ACLS, PALS, NRP. 3 years of service as ACP in Alberta.
Preferred Qualifications:TNCC, Hospital facility experience in the last 2 years. 5 years of experience as ACP in Alberta.
