Required Qualifications:

Completion of a certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience Intravenous sedation. CPR Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS – HCP). Minimum of two years of recent dental assistant experience. Experience in triaging, assessing, and advising clients who present with varied and often complex issues and/or problems. Demonstration of excellent assessment, critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and patient care skills. Self-direction, adaptability and flexibility required while working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, and pulling weights up to fifty kgs to transfer or transport patients and equipment. Extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.

Preferred Qualifications:

National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) certification. Cross-cultural competence and experience working with complex, vulnerable populations. Experience in operative services. A sound working knowledge of GOLD electronic medical record systems.
