Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Minimum 5 years clinical experience in related area. Active registration as a professional member with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association.

Additional Required Qualifications:

National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Fitness Alberta Certification (Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older Adult Exercise specialty) and extensive knowledge and experience (2 years) in physical activity interventions Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support certification. Aquatic Therapy experience (2 years). It’s Your Move certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Aquatic Therapy cert. or coursework. Expressive Arts & Music Care experience or cert. Dementia Care cert. Health Change Methodology Change Management Courses. Demonstration of current continuing education. Demonstration of effective leadership and mentoring Demonstration of development, implementation, and presentation experience of best practice. Non-Violent Crises Intervention certification (completed within 3 months of hire if not certified on hire).
