Recreation Therapist II
Your Opportunity:
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will be providing therapeutic recreation services to Home Care clients as a member of the Innisfail Allied Health Home Care Team. You will be completing assessments and providing personalized interventions to improve, maintain and/or prevent decline in function and well-being for the clients you serve. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team and will be expected to collaborate and coordinate care, as needed. In this role, you will also foster and maintain community connections and may assist in the creation and facilitation of group programming, as appropriate. You will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Recreation Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas. With a growing industrial base and a flourishing agricultural economy, Innisfail is a hidden gem located in Central Alberta, 31 km south of Red Deer on the QE II. Innisfail boasts several excellent recreational facilities including the Aquatic Centre, the Innisfail Arena, many parks and trails and the Learning Centre which houses an extensive library and community program room.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist II, you will take a leadership role in ensuring that the level of therapeutic recreation practice in your clinical area is evidence based, patient-and family-centred and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will provide clinical leadership to ensure safe and efficient care as well as coordinate the assessment, treatment, education and care of the patient (client, resident). You will participate in program development to ensure effective delivery of services, including the development of protocols, forms, education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA). Minimum three years' related clinical experience as a Recreation Therapist.
Additional Required Qualifications:Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required.
Preferred Qualifications:Class 4 license preferred.
