Recreation Therapist I
Your Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists to join the fast-paced Acute Care Recreation Therapy team which is based out of Red Deer Regional Hospital. As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be providing services on a casual basis, in multiple Acute Care Units at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. You will be expected to communicate and collaborate with patients, families, the Recreation Therapy team and the interdisciplinary team regarding the care, opportunities and therapeutic recreation programming provided within these units. In this role you will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Recreational Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas. You may also need to collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator, as well as community partners, to provide effective programming.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Membership with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association. Heart & Stroke: Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
