Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years experience in a Recreation Therapist position in Long Term Care, Acute Care & Ambulatory community settings. 3-5 years of demonstrated knowledge & competency with therapeutic recreation professional standards of practice, informed evidence and research, assessments, client-centred treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association professional membership Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Fitness Alberta certification: Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older Adult. Dementia Care training and/or certification (Dementia Practice Guidelines for Recreational Therapy). Aquatic Therapy experience. Expressive Arts & Music Care experience. Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support certification. Demonstration of continuing education. Physically capable of pushing a wheelchair for a long time and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous, reliable & demonstrates regular attendance.
