Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 3-5 years of experience working as a Recreation Therapist. Clinical experience working with children and youth with complex and life limiting medical conditions. Demonstrated skills in utilizing adapted physical activity as part of treatment plan. Experience planning and facilitating therapeutic group programs and special events. Volunteer training and supervision experience required. Demonstrated ability to teach and deliver education material to families in an engaging and meaningful way. Demonstrated ability to function independently and within an interdisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated understanding of a Family Centered Care service delivery model. Level C Basic Life Support (CPR).
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a pediatric hospital setting &/or rehabilitation program, hospice setting &/or with children who have life limiting illnesses. Experience working with community partners providing services to special needs children. National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification is an asset. Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association membership. Completion of a Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care Pallium course.
