Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

2-3 years’ experience in a Recreation Therapist position in Long Term Care, Acute Care & community setting. 2-3 years demonstrated knowledge & competency with therapeutic recreation professional standards of practice, best available evidence/research, assessments, client-centered treatment plans, identifying outcomes, individual and group treatment interventions, evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and documentation. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Fitness Alberta certification: Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older Adult. Dementia Care training and/or certification (Dementia Practice Guidelines for RT, Montessori Based Therapy). Expressive art and Music Care experience. Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support. Valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to provide therapy to clients in their home. Demonstration of continuing education. Physically capable of pushing a wheelchair for an extended period of time and performing patient transfers. Punctual, meticulous, reliable & demonstrates regular attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Health Change Methodology. Food Safety Alberta Certification (1 day in person) (in facility). It’s Your Move. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
