Radiation Therapist I

Cancer Care Alberta is currently looking for a driven Radiation Therapist (RT) who wants to grow their career as a pivotal member of our Cancer Care team! The Grande Prairie Cancer Centre serves as the regional referral centre for the majority of northern Alberta. This brand new, state-of-the-art facility provides comprehensive care to cancer patients and brings exceptional radiation services to the North Zone. Working in this regional cancer centre features the ability to collaborate closely with Oncologists, Medical Physics, and other oncology specialists offering unique professional growth and leadership opportunities. This RT role is eligible for relocation, CAMRT exam and ACMDTT assessment reimbursement that can be discussed in advance with the hiring manager. In addition to a competitive rate of pay and lower cost of living, this role is also eligible for the Remote Retention Allowance to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Radiation Therapist I, you will deliver a prescribed course of radiation treatment to patients and assist in the efficient, safe and accurate planning of patient's care during simulation and/or planning procedures according to the direction of a Radiation Oncologist. You will assess each patient's reactions to treatment, document treatment plans, and maintain patient records. Additionally, you will educate patients about treatment procedures, side effects, and appropriate management strategies to mitigate the side effects of treatment, making referrals to other health professionals as needed.

Completion of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy in Canada or accredited non-Canadian program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Life Support (BLS). Must be able to perform all duties of the job including lifting and moving. Must possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Varian hardware and software as well as Connect Care experience is considered an asset.
