Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Ph.D. from an accredited clinical or counselling program. Registered or eligible for registration with their discipline specific college and has not been under college sanction. Minimum of 15 years demonstrated experience in assessment and treatment of mental health disorders and 10 years of supervisory experience. Training and experience in evidence-based interventions and basic health psychology. Knowledge of basic medications. Demonstrated ability to teach mental health concepts to front line staff and family physicians through application of principles of adult learning. A history of consulting and teaching with front line staff and primary care providers on their assessment, treatment, and management of patients with mental health/behavioural problems. An ability to effectively assess and treat patients with a wide variety of presenting problems and complex treatment needs. Successfully organized and conducted education/training sessions with clinical staff, primary care providers, and other professional groups on mental health and behavioural issues, including the development of training/education sessions. Possession of valid Driver’s License and a vehicle is necessary as travel is required throughout the Calgary Zone.
Preferred Qualifications:Good knowledge of the appropriate mental health/psychiatric resources within the Calgary Zone and the community. Presented at national and international conferences. Evidence of effective program development and evaluation.
