Your Opportunity:

The successful applicant will work within the Pediatric Rehabilitation Division as part of multidisciplinary teams providing assessment, consultation, and collaborative care. This position focuses on autism assessment for preschool- and school-aged children. In this role, the psychologist will complete developmental histories, administer and interpret cognitive assessments when appropriate, and conduct autism-specific assessments. Experience with tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) is an asset. The psychologist must be comfortable formulating differential diagnoses and ruling in or out Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children with diverse developmental presentations, medical complexities, and co‑occurring conditions. The position includes participation in multidisciplinary diagnostic clinics for children with suspected ASD and related developmental or learning challenges. Collaboration with occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, and medical providers is essential to support holistic assessments. Beyond assessment, the psychologist may provide consultation and education to community partners and service providers to help build capacity in identifying and supporting children with ASD and other developmental needs. Reporting to the Psychology Manager, you will join a large and supportive department of more than 50 psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychometrists, and support staff. Description:

As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. . A combination of equivalent education and experience may also be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Applications from Provisional Psychologists may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Psychology from an accredited university program is preferred although a Master’s Degree with relevant experience will be considered. Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists as a Registered Psychologist is preferred, however Provisional Psychologists are encouraged to apply. Supervision may be arranged for a qualified individual. Knowledge of various physical/medical conditions, learning disorders, early development, behavior problems, and Autism Spectrum Disorder is preferred. Preference given to those with experience assessment of children across the age span with complex presentations. Experience in administration and interpretation of common assessment instruments is required (e.g., WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-III,AODS-2). Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team within a fast-paced outpatient setting is an asset. Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage sensitive conversations around developmental concerns and diagnosis. Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and clinical documentation standards.
